PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) – So many suffered so much when Matthew blew through Hampton Roads. One neighborhood that was devastated by flood waters was Swanson Homes in Portsmouth. Many residents lost everything on the first floor of their units. Furniture, televisions, appliances, food and many other things have to be replaced.
With no power, and a lot ruined, those living in the Swanson Homes area really needed a helping hand. They got it when a group of neighbors and volunteers joined forces to brighten their day. They set up a table with food, they cooked out and served the residents. Toiletries were distributed and people were given rides to places they needed to go.
Not every need could be met that day, but the thoughtfulness shown made all the difference in the world.
