Clerk assaulted during armed robbery at the Ocean View Inn

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Police are searching for a robbery suspect who pistol whipped a clerk during the crime Tuesday night.

Emergency dispatchers received a call around 9:15 p.m. about the robbery at the Ocean View Inn at 1020 E. Ocean View Ave.

Police say a man entered the Inn, pulled out a gun and demanded money from the clerk.

The clerk complied, but the suspect assaulted the clerk with a gun. The clerk was not shot as previously reported by dispatchers. The clerk was not seriously hurt, but did have to go to the hospital to be treated for the injury.

The suspect ran from the scene. Police described him as a black man, around 6 feet 3 inches tall. He was last seen wearing a red bandana over his face, a black hooded sweatshirt, a black jacket, black jeans and white shoes.

Earlier this year, a 24-year-old was shot and killed outside the inn.
