Crews respond to two separate fires in Norfolk

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Fire and rescue crews in Norfolk were busy Tuesday night.

At about 8:30 p.m., firefighters responded to a garage fire that extended into a home, located at 1451 W. Little Creek Road. The fire was marked under control within 30 minutes.

At least two pets died from the smoke inside the home. A cat was treated by medics on the scene and survived.

No one was injured.

The eight residents — two minors and six adults — were displaced from the home. The Red Cross will help them.

At the same time, crews were called to a report of a fire at 2840 Merrimack Court. Units arrived and saw smoke and flames. The fire was brought under control within 20 minutes.

There were no injuries reported.

Two people were displaced because of fire damage.
