HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) — Hurricane Matthew surged through the Carolinas and southeastern Virginia over the weekend, bringing widespread impact to many areas.
Only Chopper 10 was above the damage in Hampton Roads and northeast North Carolina Sunday, as streets and neighborhoods were turned into lakes and rivers. Many people had trouble navigating the overwashed roadways.
Numerous stalled out cars were left abandoned on the flooded streets.
Authorities across the region will be looking to assess the damage from Matthew in the coming days.
