NORTH CAROLINA (WAVY) — Gates County Emergency Management is giving out bottled water and ready to eat meals to residents in need.

Residents can get one case of water and one box of ready to eat meals each. Distribution locations are at the Hobbsville Volunteer Fire Department, T.S. Cooper Elementary School (237 NC-32, Sunbury) and the Emergency Management Office (308 US Highway 158 West, Gatesville).

Officials in Gates County say a water main failure between Gatesville and Sunbury left many without water. Those who still have water are being asked to boil any water before it is consumed. The boil water advisory remains in effect.

If you live in Gates County and have any property damage from Hurricane Matthew, call the Emergency Operations Center from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 357-5569.
