BLADEN COUNTY, N.C. (WAVY) — Currituck County Fire and EMS members went to Bladen County this week to help after Hurricane Matthew caused major flooding in the are.

They went with the county’s medical transport bus, which they used to evacuate residents to emergency shelters.

On Sunday, paramedics Jamie Styron and April Elmore helped to get four medical patients in Bladen County to a medical-friendly shelter. They worked alongside medical crews from Bladen County and Cleveland County.

The medical bus was deployed to support rescue operations in central North Carolina.

The bus holds a max of 28 patients and the crew includes a physician’s assistant and a registered nurse, along with the paramedics.
