WACHAPREAGUE, Va. (WAVY) — Seven people were rescued from a sailboat Sunday near Wachapreague.
Coast Guard Station Wachapreague watchstanders were notified at about 5:30 p.m. that a family and their friend were aboard a sailboat that ran aground by Hog Island.
A 24-foot Special Purpose Craft-Shallow Water boat crew launched from Station Wachapreague at 6 p.m. and arrived on scene an hour later.
The boat crew took all seven people from the sailboat and brought them to Wilis Warf in Great Machipongo.
No injuries were reported.
