Hyde County: Information line changed; Ferry routes suspended

HYDE COUNTY, N.C (WITN) – County officials say they’ve experienced problems with a previously advertised information line, and have changed the number to 252-926-4368 for Hyde County Hurricane Matthew-related information.

All ferry routes to and from Ocracoke have been suspended. Officials said in a release Friday that the time to safely access Ocracoke Island has passed.

Hyde County public safety services may be suspended later tonight as sustained winds reach 45-50 mph. Therefore, citizens need to be prepared for service delays or denials of service.

Officials say to be advised, flood waters may contain sewage and other harmful contaminants. Keep children and pets out of flood waters.
