NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — Newport News police say they are looking to identify suspects from two robberies that happened at one apartment complex last weekend.

Police say officers responded to the first robbery around 5:15 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, on Aqua Vista Drive. An 18-year-old Chesapeake man and a friend said they were in the area to trade an XBox One for a PlayStation 4.

The 18-year-old reportedly said he found the trade on a mobile app called Offer Up, and was robbed by the would be trader. The suspect set up a meeting for the teen and his friend at the Aqua Vista apartment complex.

They were met there by a black male — described as having shoulder-length dreadlocks red-tips — who was joined by another person wearing a red hoody and galaxy jogging pants.

Police say the first suspect pulled out a gun and ordered the victim to give up his bag — which had an Xbox One, controller, headset and a game. The teen and his friend dropped the bag and ran toward Jefferson Avenue.

Police say that a Virginia Beach man went to the same apartment complex the next night to sell his PlayStation 4. He reportedly found the listing on the Offer Up app.

Two black males robbed the man, according to police. The incident happened around 10:10 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 9.
