NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Three men were taken to the hospital after a two-car crash caused a truck to flip and hit two workers Thursday morning on Terminal Boulevard.
Norfolk police say a Dodge pickup going east on Terminal Boulevard was hit by a Honda sedan that was attempting to turn left onto Terminal from Diven Street.
The impact caused the truck to spin and flip onto a median where two Midasco employees were working. Both workers were hit. Officers were called to the crash scene around 9:40 a.m.
They were taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with serious injuries, but police say they are expected to be OK. The man driving the pick up was also taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
Police say the woman driving the Honda was not injured.
Sheila Davis, wife of the driver in the truck, says she saw her husband before he was transported in an ambulance.
“He had a very deep cut to … I believe it was his right arm,” said Sheila Davis, wife of the driver in the truck. “They put him in a neck brace and backboard to make sure, but unfortunately her airbag deployed and his did not.”
Police tweeted Thursday morning that all traffic on Terminal was being rerouted because of the crash. VDOT says the I-564 West ramp onto Terminal Boulevard was blocked off due to the accident.
Terminal Boulevard was reopened shortly after 12 p.m.
Police are continuing to investigate the crash. No charges have been filed yet.
