1 of 2 men charged in deadly Norfolk shooting pleads not guilty

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A man charged in a deadly Norfolk shooting pleaded not guilty to the charges against him Thursday.

Deonte Green, 23, is charged in connection to the shooting death of Darrell L. Beck, Jr. on September 25. Authorities arrested Green and Daniel Carrington, 22, days after the shooting. They both face charges of second-degree murder and use of a firearm in commission of a felony.

Around 5:20 a.m. on September 25, police responded to the 2500 block of Hale Street for a possible gunshot victim. When police arrived, they found a 27-year-old man, Beck, lying on the ground suffering from a gunshot wound.

Medics transported him to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, where he died hours later.

Green is scheduled to appear in court again in April 2017.

Carrington appeared in court on Tuesday, and his case was continued. He is due back in court in December.
