NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents seized nearly $150,000 in counterfeit Disney and Nickelodeon apparel last week at the Port of Norfolk.
A container of apparel, which authorities say was heading to California from Egypt, was referred to U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s warehouse on September 29 because of “commodity inconsistencies.”
The shipment was referred because it was originally listed to contain household goods.
CBP targets and seizes imports of counterfeit and pirated goods. According to the CBP, on a typical day during 2015, they seized $3.7 million worth of products that violate intellectual property rights laws at the nation’s 328 ports of entry.
