NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A broken sewer line caused a small section of Brambleton Avenue in Norfolk to cave in Wednesday morning.

A hole in the road on W. Brambleton Avenue near Boush Street is affecting two westbound lanes. The hole was reported around 7:45 a.m., emergency dispatchers said.

Harry Kenyon with Norfolk Public Utilities says crews discovered that a sewer line broke and caused the road to cave in. A pavement crew will fill the hole as a temporary fix.

Next week, Kenyon says crews plan to excavate the road to permanently fix the broken line.

There was no sewage leak.
