Rabid fox found in Eagle Point area of Portsmouth

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) – A rabid fox was found in the Eagle Point area of Portsmouth after it came in contact with two dogs on September 29.

According to the Portsmouth Health Department, one of the dog owners notified Animal Control and they were able to track down and capture the fox. On October 5, the health department got results that the fox tested positive for rabies.

The dogs involved are being properly managed by the Portsmouth Health Department. At this time no humans have been identified as being exposed.
