Person with pitchfork in Chesapeake prompts lockdowns at several schools

CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — Chesapeake police say a person with a pitchfork caused lockdowns Wednesday morning at several area schools.

Kelly Elliott with Chesapeake Police says there was a report of a suspicious male with a pitchfork on Providence Road. A male fitting this description was later found and questioned by police.

Police say he was not dressed like a clown and did not have a pitchfork.

Chesapeake school officials say four schools went on precautionary lockdown after 10 a.m. because of an investigation in the area.

The lockdowns lasted 12 minutes and included: Georgetown Primary School, Indian River Middle School, Indian River High School and Chesapeake Alternative School.
