Woman suffering from stab wound in Portsmouth

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — Portsmouth Police responded to a stabbing at the intersection of Douglas Avenue and Wesley Street Tuesday evening.

Dispatchers received the emergency call just before 10 p.m. for a person who was stabbed.

Medics on scene treated a woman for a stab wound, Misty Holley of the Portsmouth Police Department said.

Holley said the woman was involved in a fight with another woman.

It’s not clear if the injuries the victim suffered to her arm and face were from a fist or a sharp object. Her injuries were not life-threatening.

The case is being investigated as an aggravated assault.

Police have not yet made an arrest, but investigators are following up on leads.
