NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – A collision between a school bus and HRT bus in Norfolk Tuesday afternoon sent seven people to the hospital.

Dispatchers received the call at 2:30 p.m. about the accident on N. Military Highway at Norvella Avenue, which is near Norview.

Chopper 10 flew over the scene. Images show it appears the school bus rear-ended the HRT bus while it was at a stop.

HRT spokesman Tom Holden told WAVY.com five people on the HRT bus and two adults from the school bus went to the hospital. According to police, everyone was conscious and alert and their injuries are not considered serious. Holden said the HRT bus leaked antifreeze after the crash. A contractor was called to clean it up.

Norfolk Police say there were three people on the school bus, but no children. The bus was on its way to pick up children at the Academy of International Studies at Rosemont. Chopper 10’s images show the bus involved was #372.
