NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A two-vehicle crash in Norfolk shut down a section of Sewell’s Point Road Tuesday.
Around 12:30 p.m., police responded to a call about a crash with injuries at the intersection of Kennebeck Avenue.
Their investigation determined a Jeep was going southbound down Sewells Point when a Ford sedan ran a stop sign at the intersection and hit the Jeep. Norfolk Fire-Rescue had to cut off the top of the Jeep to free the 36-year-old woman trapped inside. She was the only person in the vehicle. Police say she was taken to the hospital with significant injuries.
The 78-year-old woman driving the other vehicle was not injured. She was cited for disregarding a stop sign.
