3 people rescued from water in Sandbridge area of Virginia Beach

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) – The Virginia Beach Fire Department’s Marine Team rescued three people in distress from the water in Sandbridge Friday afternoon.

According to VBFD PIO Art Kohn, a swimmer in the area of the 3000 block of Sandfiddler Road was in distress around 3:30 p.m.. Four people then jumped into the water to rescue the swimmer and became in distress themselves. Two of the five swimmers were able to get out on their own and the other three were rescued by first responders.

Of the three rescued, two people were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The other person refused treatment.

Both VBFD and Virginia Beach EMS helped with the rescue.
