Woman injured after gunfire hits Newport News home, 3 cars

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — Newport News police say a woman is recovering after someone shot her in the leg.

It all started with several calls to 911 around 12:15 a.m. Friday.

Residents reported hearing gunshots along Sally Ann Place, just off Denbigh Boulevard. Police say they found several cars and homes with bullet holes, and a 47-year-old woman who was hit in the upper leg.

Police say she was outside of a home that was hit by gunfire. A second person who was with her was not injured.

Paramedics took the woman to a local hospital where she is expected to be OK.

10 On Your Side cameras got video and pictures of several windows damaged. Investigators collected at least 11 bullet casings overnight.

Police say they don’t have any suspects, but a source tells 10 On Your Side they may have a person of interest.
