VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — Virginia Beach has announced two make-up days for city schools that were affected due to recent flooding.

Virginia Beach begins to dry out after days of rainfall cause flooding

Schools were closed after days of heavy rain caused flooding in Virginia Beach and most of Hampton Roads. The lost time will be made up on Oct. 24 and Jan. 30, 2017, according to a Sept. 29 news release from school officials.

Oct. 24 was originally scheduled to be a staff day for the district.

“By adjusting the schedule to make use of Oct. 24, our students (particularly those in semester courses) are not losing valuable time in the classroom,” said Superintendent Dr. Aaron Spence.
