Portsmouth police host community walk to address recent homicide

PORTSMOUTH, Va, (WAVY) – The Portsmouth Police Department hosted a community walk in the Brighton area Wednesday evening.

The department’s RESET (Rapid Engagement of Support in the Event of Trauma) team led the event. Portsmouth Police Chief Tonya Chapman canceled her Chief’s Forum so she could instead attend the walk.

There, officers tried to comfort residents who were shaken by the recent homicide that occurred on George Washington Highway last Sunday.
