Newport News police seek suspects in armed robbery at Family Dollar

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — Police are hoping you can help identify two men who were involved in an armed robbery at a Newport News store.

At 9:15 p.m. on Sunday, September 25, two masked and armed men entered the Family Dollar at 11712 Jefferson Avenue, displayed handguns and robbed the employees and the business.

During the robbery, one of the two men ordered two male customers to empty their pockets and get on the floor. The other man forced a female employee to open the register. The men took personal items from the employees and cash and cigarettes from the store.

Police described the first suspect as a heavy set, light-skinned black male, between 5 feet 7 and 5 feet 9 inches tall, wearing a black ski mask, grey zip up jacket, grey shorts, grey leggings under shorts, red and black gloves, with a black semi auto firearm with a silver slide.

The second suspect was described as a black male, between 5 feet 10 inches and 6 feet 1 inch tall, with a slim build, wearing a black and red mask, a black zip up jacket with a grey hoodie underneath, black and white gloves, blue jeans with a center fade. He had a black semi automatic firearm and a mask.
