NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A man who was hit by a car early Wednesday morning in Norfolk has died.
Norfolk dispatch tells WAVY.com the accident was called in shortly after 6 a.m. on Hampton Boulevard at the intersection of W. 38th Street.
The man hit by the vehicle was transported to Sentara Norfolk General with life-threatening injuries. Police say he died as a result of injuries he sustained in the accident.
According to police, a preliminary investigation shows the man was hit by oncoming traffic as he was trying to cross Hampton Boulevard. The driver of the car involved stayed at the scene.
The northbound side of Hampton Boulevard was closed between 37th Street and 38th Street, but reopened to traffic shortly before 9 a.m.
