PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — All Portsmouth police communication telephone lines are now back up and working.

As of 5:35 p.m. Thursday, police said none of their administrative lines can make or receive phone calls. All 911 lines were rerouted to cell phones until service was restored.

“We ask everyone to please be patient as we work closely with Verizon to get the problem resolved,” police said. “We will notify you as soon as service is restored.”
