VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — The U.S. Marshals on Wednesday said that the suspect in a fatal shooting at Club Embassy in Virginia Beach was captured in North Carolina.

Tobias Loftin, 37, was arrested Tuesday at a Charlotte apartment following a 30-minute standoff with law enforcement. The shooting at Club Embassy on Aug. 27 resulted in the death of 34-year-old Demetrius Darnell McCloud.

Authorities stated in a news release Wednesday that warrants were issued Aug. 31 for Loftin’s arrest. Virginia Beach police contacted the U.S. Marshals in Norfolk, and it was eventually determined that Loftin may be in the Charlotte area.

Loftin has been charged with first-degree murder and use of firearm in commission of a felony, and is currently being held at Mecklenburg County Jail awaiting extradition to Virginia.
