PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — Local car rental businesses tell 10 On Your Side they are flooded with calls from insurance companies because of the rising water.
There’s no way to say for sure how many cars have been flooded out across Hampton Roads, but WAVY.com spoke with a representative from Enterprise Rent-A-Car in Portsmouth Wednesday. The rep said as of Tuesday night, they had only two reservations for the day, but by 8:00 a.m. Wednesday, they had 25.
At another Enterprise location in Norfolk, a representative told 10 On Your Side she had 30 cars out and stopped renting to anyone but insurance companies to meet the demand.
10 On Your Side also called around to auto shops. They are expecting to be busy in about two or three days, when all those cars come in for repairs.
