PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) – For the fifth year Chowan University kicked off the school year with a “Party for Good”. Their Campus Ministries Program teams up with Stop Hunger Now and brings students together for a huge meal packing event. 271 student volunteers were able to pack up 20,000 meal bags in less than an hour.
Stop Hunger Now is a non-profit organization that provides meals throughout the world. Meal bags are sent to places like orphanages, school feeding programs, natural disasters and crisis situations.
Reverend Mary Wiles, who leads the “Party for Good”, says it is a way for them to come together for the greater good, to meet like minded people and to have fun serving others.
