SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Suffolk police are conducting an internal investigation into why a cruiser parked in what appears to be a handicapped-accessible spot.

Danielle Scarborough took the photo at King’s Fork Middle School on Thursday, Sept 15. She posted it to Facebook, where it has since been shared more than 300 times.

A WAVY viewer shared a screenshot of a Facebook conversation he had with the department about the post.

The message from the police department says that they were made aware of the issue last week and that an internal investigation is underway.

“The Chief of Police wishes to express his disappointment in the judgement used by this officer,” the message continues. “Again, we are keenly aware of the impression that this has made on the community and will be taking action to remedy the issue.”

City officials would not comment further about what repercussions the officer may face.
