Man critically injured after moped and car collide in Norfolk

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A man on a moped was seriously injured in a crash Tuesday evening in Norfolk.

Police say shortly after 8 p.m., emergency crews were called to the intersection of Vimy Ridge Avenue and Lafayette Boulevard for an accident with injuries. First responders found a man lying in the roadway suffering from life-threatening injuries.

According to police, investigation revealed that a vehicle and a moped collided in the intersection.

The man was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, where he remains in critical condition.

No one in the vehicle reported any injuries.

The driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene and tried to administer first aid to the victim before medics arrived on scene.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation. The intersection remains closed as police investigate.
