(WAVY) — As bad as Virginia has been playing this season, one of the bright spots for the Cavaliers has been the play of junior defensive tackle Andrew Brown from Chesapeake.
Brown struggled his first two years, was injured often and didn’t get along with the coaches. But Brown has rebounded, especially his past Saturday against Connecticut when ha had a sack, a fumble recovery, and six tackles, including two tackles for a loss.
“It felt great to be back in my groove again, just making plays and having fun,” Brown said. “Dealing with the past coaching staff I could not produce, plus I got injured. Nothing is going to be given to me just because I was the best out of high school. It’s a whole new level, a whole new scheme, a whole new process, so when I got hurt I humbled myself. Got back to ground zero and built myself back up again. So I feel like with this new coaching staff I’m able to be myself again.”
Winless Virginia hosts Central Michigan on Saturday.
