Family displaced after house fire in Chesapeake

CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — A small fire outside of a home on Waters Road Sunday afternoon spread to the house, displacing a family of two.

According to fire officials, the call came in at 2 p.m., and crews arrived on scene eight minutes later.

Crews saw fire showing from the rear of the structure. The fire appears to have started on the exterior of the house and extended into one of the second floor bedrooms.

The fire was extinguished by 2:27 p.m. No injuries were reported.

Officials say the Red Cross was contacted to assist the family with temporary lodging.

The cause is still under investigation.
