NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Power was restored at Norfolk International Airport (ORF) following a power outage Sunday in the Norview area of the city.

ORF Deputy Executive Director Steve Sterling says the airport was operating on a backup generator due to a power outage that occurred off of airport property.

Sterling said the outage did impact flights going in or out of the airport.

Dominion Virginia Power officials tell 10 On Your Side the outage was caused when crows knocked down wires near Norview Avenue and Military Highway.

Power was restored to the Norview area by 9 p.m.

A WAVY employee at the airport Sunday evening said it took longer than usual to land at the airport. Upon walking into the airport, they noticed that some of the gates had only a few lights on and the AC did not appear to be running.
