Wife reportedly stabs husband to death in Mathews County

MATHEWS COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) – Deputies are investigating after a woman is accused of stabbing her husband to death Friday evening.

Emergency dispatchers received a call shortly after 9 p.m. for a problem at a home on Shark Drive. When deputies arrived on scene they found a man dead inside the home with at least one stab wound. The victim has been identified as 58-year-old Gary Flowers, according to Mathews County Sheriff’s Office.

The victim’s wife, 48-year-old Monique Flowers was also on scene. According to Mathews County Sheriff’s Office, Monique was arrested and charged with murder and unlawfully stab, cut or wound in the commission of a felony.

She is currently being held in the Middle Peninsula Regional Security Center without bond.
