McCrory drops House Bill 2 lawsuit to ‘consolidate’ legal efforts, official says

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — Another development in the ongoing battle over House Bill 2.

The governor’s office confirms the state has dropped a lawsuit filed against the US Department of Justice.

Governor Pat McCrory filed the lawsuit in response to a DOJ lawsuit demanding the state explain how it would enforce House Bill 2.

The governor’s office says this move is to consolidate the legal efforts of the state.

“The remaining cases are well underway in the U.S, Middle District of North Carolina. Governor McCrory will continue to fight against government overreach,” Graham H. Wilson, the governor’s press secretary, wrote in an email to CBS North Carolina.
