Breaking Down Barrier Unity group gather in Suffolk

SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – The Community Action Coalition of Suffolk VA (CAC), Suffolk Clergy United (SCU) and the Coalition Against Poverty (CAPS) partnered with the Saratoga Civic League and several community and faith-based organizations to host a Neighborhood Clean-up/Cookout event in the Saratoga community of Suffolk .

The “Breaking Down the Barrier though Unity”clean up builds on the success from the National Night Out Unity Parade. Immediately following the clean-up activities, elected officials, volunteers, vendors, service providers and citizens will gather for socializing and refreshments, while taking the Suffolk City UNITY Pledge.

The CAC, SCU and the CAPS partnership is aimed at changing and eliminating social barriers that halt or slow the economic growth of individuals, families and our community. Our mission is to help individuals prosper and succeed, which in turn promotes economic growth in our community.

The UNITY events offered Suffolk citizens from all walks of life a unique opportunity to participate in finding better ways to listen, understand and respond to each other’s concerns and community issues.
