Boy dies after being hit by car in Virginia Beach

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va (WAVY) – Virginia Beach police are investigating after a boy was hit by a car in the 1400 block of Lynnhaven Parkway Saturday morning.

Emergency dispatchers received the call around 7:15 a.m. for a pedestrian hit by a vehicle. When officers arrived on scene they found a juvenile suffering from life-threatening injuries. Police say the car stayed on scene. Medics took the teenage boy to a local hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

There are no pending charges at this time. The incident is under investigation by the department’s Fatal Crash Team.

First responders asked the public to avoid the area of 1400 block of North Lynnhaven Parkway and South Rosemont Road for at least two hours while the case was being investigated. The roadways are now clear.
