Kitchen fire displaces family of six from Suffolk home

SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A kitchen fire displaced a family of six from their Suffolk home Wednesday afternoon.

Emergency dispatchers received a call about the fire at 1:11 p.m. Fire crews arrived to the 200 block of Pine Street at 1:14 p.m.

Battalion Chief Chuck Knight said that the first firefighters on scene found smoke coming from the back of the home and the attic eaves. The residents of the home got out before crews arrived on scene.

The fire was contained to the kitchen and was marked under control at 1:37 p.m.

No one was injured.

Three adults and three juveniles were displaced by the fire. The Red Cross is assisting them.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
