16-year-old charged with murder, robbery in Hampton shooting

HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) — Police have arrested a 16-year-old suspect in connection to a shooting in Hampton that left a man dead.

At 10:50 p.m. on August 6, police were called to the area of Milford Avenue and Bright Street for a report of shots fired. Officers arrived on scene to find 20-year-old Antoine Christopher St. Lawrence, of Portsmouth, laying in the roadway with multiple gunshot wounds.

St. Lawrence was taken to a local hospital, where he died from his injuries.

A residence was hit by a single bullet in the midst of the gunfire, but no one inside was injured.

Police say investigation revealed that the victim and two suspects met in the area to buy a gun. Both suspects showed a firearm, demanded St. Lawrence’s money and then shot him multiple times before running from the scene.

Officers arrested the Hampton teen and charged him with one count of murder, one count of robbery, one count of use of a firearm in commission of a felony and one count of conspiracy to commit robbery.

Police are still looking for the second suspect, who they described as a black male, between 5 foot 8 and 5 foot 9, with a small goatee. He was last seen wearing all dark clothing.
