Firefighter hospitalized after overnight house fire in Hampton

HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) – A firefighter went to the hospital fighting a house fire in the 400 block of Clovelly Lane, early Monday morning.

According to Hampton Fire- Rescue, crews responded to the fire around 1 a.m. Units arrived on the scene and found heavy smoke coming from half of the home.

The fire was under control with 15 minutes and out in 45, according to fire officials.

Extensive damage to all four sides of the house has ruled it a total loss.

People do live in the home, but they were not there at the time.

Firefighters rescued three dogs, who are now in the custody of animal control.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
