PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) – Governor Terry McAuliffe campaigned for Hillary Clinton and Tim Kaine in Portsmouth Monday evening.
McAuliffe tried to appeal to young voters by discussing free community college and debt-free higher education opportunities. He also encouraged Virginians to register to vote ahead of the October 17 deadline.
“At the end of the day, I think this is Trump’s big problem: He doesn’t understand you’ve got to talk to voters and you’ve got to get them to the polls on Election Day,” McAuliffe said. “We’re getting a massive operation because they know Hillary will be a great president. Republicans will have a very difficult time winning if Virginia’s not in their Electoral College mix.”
The event took place at the Portsmouth Coordinated Campaign Office on High Street at 6:15 p.m.
