Rep. Bobby Scott hosts his 40th annual Labor Day Celebration

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — Congressman Bobby Scott held his 40th annual Labor Day Celebration Monday.

Scott uses the annual event as an unofficial opening to the 2016 campaign season. Several candidates who are seeking office were invited, including Lt. Gov. Ralph Northam, who is running for governor in 2017.

The event also focused on democrat Hillary Clinton’s campaign. Anne Holton, the wife of Sen. Tim Kaine, spoke about Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential bid.

Scott’s event allows neighbors to mingle with elected officials. About 1,000 people were in attendance.
