Dispatchers say they received a call at 8:29 p.m. about a shooting in the area of 35th Street and Marshall Avenue. When officers arrived on scene, they found a boy and a girl with gunshot wounds to the lower leg areas.

Police say the girl suffered possible life-threatening injuries. Her condition was upgraded to stable Friday morning.

The boy suffered non life-threatening injuries. Both victims were taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Witnesses near the area reported hearing four gunshots. Police do not have a suspect or suspect vehicle at this time.

An investigation is underway.

10-year-old girl was shot inside of a Newport News home during a drive-by shooting late Monday night. In early August, a 10-year-old and a 14-year-old were shot in Newport News, a block away from where a 16-year-old had been shot just over an hour earlier.
