Man shot on Madison Avenue in Newport News

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — A Newport News man was shot late Thursday night in the 2100 block of Madison Avenue.

Dispatchers received a call about the shooting at about 10:53 p.m. When officers arrived on scene, they found a 21-year-old man with two gunshot wounds in the thigh and hand.

The victim was taken to a local hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Police do not have any suspect information.

Hours earlier, a boy and a girl were injured in a shooting on 35th Street and Marshall Avenue. It’s not clear yet if the two shootings are connected, police say.

Authorities are still investigating.
