Hurricane Hermine could affect ODU and NSU’s football games

HAMPTON ROADS, Va. (WAVY) — Officials at Norfolk State and Old Dominion were monitoring Hurricane Hermine as they wait and see whether or not to play their home openers on Saturday.

ODU was scheduled to play Hampton University Saturday, while Norfolk State is set to play Elizabeth City State. Both games were scheduled to kickoff at 6 p.m.

Norfolk State on Friday decided to push the game to Sunday. ODU’s game has been moved to 3:30 p.m. Sunday.

Officials at both universities said Thursday they were coming up with contingency plans because of the weather and a final decision will be made on Friday morning.

Christopher Newport opens its season at home on Saturday against Kean University at 1 p.m. CNU officials told WAVY that the game will go on as scheduled. If there is lightning, there will be appropriate delays.
