Two suspects on run after chaotic crash in Portsmouth

PORTMSOUTH, Va. (WAVY) – Two suspects are on the run after a chaotic crash Friday afternoon.

The accident was reported around 2:30 p.m, near the intersection of Lincoln Street and Chestnut Street.

According to police, a red Toyota Camry was speeding and ran a stop sign. An officer in the area witnessed the violation.

As the officer turned around to stop the suspect, the red car crashed into a silver Ford Focus and flipped. A utility pole was cracked from the impact, leaving the area temporarily without power.

The two people inside the Camry got out and ran from the scene.

A woman driving the Focus was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

“They took her out the backseat, she wasn’t moving,” said Herman Wilson, who lives nearby. “It’s scary, ’cause they’re somewhere hiding.”

At last check, the two suspects were not in custody. There is no suspect description available at this time.
