Woman stabbed during domestic assault on MMMBT

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — A Portsmouth resident was charged after a woman was stabbed in the leg Wednesday night during a domestic assault on the Monitor-Merrimac Memorial Bridge-Tunnel.

Virginia State Police say Rachquel Ricks was arrested and charged with malicious wounding.

Sgt. Michelle Anaya said troopers responded to a call about a fight around 8:45 p.m. in the southbound lanes of Interstate 664, near the south island of the tunnel.

Troopers arrived to find a woman who had been stabbed in the lower leg. She was taken to Riverside Hospital, with no details released on the severity of her injury.

Anaya says the incident was a domestic assault.

The case is under investigation and no further details are available at this time.
