Swimming advisories lifted at two Newport News beaches

NEWPORT NEWS (WAVY) — Health officials have lifted the swimming advisories issued for Anderson and King Lincoln Park Beaches in Newport News earlier this week.

Officials say samples collected on Aug. 23 showed bacteria levels exceeding state standards. Re-sampling completed Thursday showed that the bacteria levels in the water at both beaches now meet the state water quality standards.

Environmental health officials sample Hilton, Huntington, Yorktown, King-Lincoln and Anderson public beaches on a weekly basis during the swimming season from May to September.
