Gloucester resident bit, scratched by rabid fox

GLOUCESTER, Va. (WAVY) — Health officials in Gloucester have confirmed that a resident was bit by a rabid fox on Monday.

Officials say the resident was trying to enter their home in the Robins Neck area and was attacked by a fox, suffering bites and scratches on both legs.

The victim reportedly grabbed the fox by the neck and killed it with a blunt impact to the ground. The fox was tested, and the results were positive for rabies.

Officials say the victim will undergo post-exposure rabies treatment.
