NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – The Norfolk Department of Public Health has lifted the swim advisories for the sites: North Community Beach and 10th View.

Re-sampling found bacterial levels now fall within state water quality standards.

While enterococcal bacteria do not cause illness, scientific studies indicate that their presence is closely correlated to the presence of other disease-causing organisms.

People swimming or playing in waters with bacterial levels higher than the state standards have an increased risk of developing gastrointestinal illness.

The posted advisory signs have been removed.
